No Chinese phone number? Check the specific department

There is no verified nationwide bypass for a mainland mobile-number requirement. The useful question is whether your exact department publishes a telephone or in-person alternative for foreign-passport patients.

A published alternative in Chengdu

Chengdu First People’s Hospital’s international-department Q&A says people without a Chinese mobile number can call 15928822636 or visit in person. It says a valid passport, original or photocopy, is sufficient for patient-card registration. The Q&A does not establish the exact campus address, so confirm the location before travelling. This is a published route, not evidence that a call or appointment has succeeded.

An explicit requirement in Shenzhen

Peking University Shenzhen Hospital’s International VIP page requires a mainland China mobile number alongside the passport. It also describes manual registration at the east cashier on floor 6, but does not say that manual registration waives the number requirement. Treat the no-local-number route as unknown until the department confirms it.

Telephone and email do not prove eligibility

Huashan Hospital’s international window publishes telephone and email contacts. Renji’s international outpatient clinic does too. These contacts give you a place to ask about a foreign number; they do not prove that the booking system will accept it. Make the question specific to your passport, first-visit status and chosen campus.

A message you can adapt

“I have a foreign passport and no mainland China mobile number. Can your department register a first-time patient by telephone, email or at the counter? If yes, please confirm the exact campus, documents, opening hours and whether an appointment is required before arrival.” Include your preferred date and the department name. Avoid sending detailed medical records to an unverified account.

Separate communication from registration

Receiving an email reply, using a messaging app and creating a patient record are different steps. Keep a copy of the department’s answer and ask how it will send appointment confirmation and later reports. A local SIM may solve one administrative requirement, but this site does not establish its purchase or activation rules.
